This kit reproduces the ship as she appeared during the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Midway operation in June 1942. The included markings allow the Midway configuration with the Hinomaru identification marking on the flight deck to be reproduced.

- Decals include aircraft markings, stern ship name, deck support white lines, flight deck markings, naval ensign, and the June 1942 Hinomaru identification marking
- Includes photo-etched parts for railings, accommodation ladders, masts, windbreaks, ladders, safety railings, boat davits, crane, and other fine details
