This kit reproduces Shiranui, the second Kagero-class destroyer, and Akigumo, the 19th ship of the class, as they appeared from the beginning of the Pacific War through 1942.

Kit Features:
- Major parts are moulded in a slightly lighter grey representing Maizuru Naval Arsenal Grey
- Dedicated hull parts reproduce the early-war configuration before the late-war closure of the portholes
- Bridge area features the original configuration without the later additional anti-aircraft gun platform
- Dedicated linoleum deck parts reproduce the early-war layout
- Twin 25mm anti-aircraft guns are fitted near the funnels, representing the configuration before replacement by triple mounts
- Dedicated rear deck parts reproduce the depth-charge equipment before later wartime modifications
- Dedicated forward and rear masts reproduce the pre-radar configuration
- Includes highly conformable pre-cut stickers for fine colour details without painting
- Stickers include gun barrel canvas covers, lifebuoys, cutter interiors, and other details
- Includes 1 decal sheet with rear bridge linoleum flooring, lifebuoys, and other markings for painted finishes
- Includes photo-etched parts for both ships
- Photo-etched parts include railings, gangways, lifebuoys, funnel-top details, boat davits, skid beams, flagstaffs, and other fine details
