The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark is a twin-engine supersonic fighter-bomber with variable-sweep wings. Produced from the late 1960s, it remained in service until the late 1990s, representing a significant technological leap over other aircraft of the period due to the solutions it adopted. The F-111 was capable of reaching a speed of Mach 2.5 and carrying a significant offensive payload. The aircraft had a crew of two, seated side-by-side in a pressurized cabin with the possibility of ejection in case of emergency. The F-111 was used in several conflicts, including the Vietnam War, where it was used for night bombing missions and low-altitude attacks. Thanks to its sophisticated radar and terrain guidance systems, it was able to fly close to the ground even in poor visibility, avoiding enemy defenses.
