MG42 early
The MG 42 (abbreviation of the German MaschinengeWehr 42) was a 7.92 mm Mauser caliber machine gun developed by the Nazi Germany's war industry and entered into service in 1942. He flanked, and partly supplanted, the oldest MG 34 in almost all the departments of the German army, although both weapons were produced until the end of the war.
The MG 42 immediately showed reliable, resistant, simple to build and easy to use, but the characteristic that impressed was the enormous flurry of fire produced. The weapon presents the highest possible shot rate for single-barreled portable weapons, which oscillated between 1200 and 1500 shots per minute.
Mass production began in 1942, with the MG 42 designation. The production factories in production were Gropfup, Mauser-Werke, Gustlof-Werke and other minor establishments. Production during the war was higher than 400,000 units (17.915 in 1942, 116.725 in 1943, 211,806 in 1944 and 61,877 in 1945).
The most remarkable feature of the weapon was the impressive volume of fire, double compared to the American bar and English Vickers. The weapon was thus most feared that the US army devoted movies to help soldiers overcome the trauma of being able to live in combat. At a certain rate of fire so high, the human ear could not distinguish the individual shots that were fired, and the weapon seemed to emit a continuous buzz that earned him the nicknames of Hitlersage (Hitler's chainsaw) or "Hitler's Ripper" ( Hitler Ripper). Despite the high shooting frequency, the weapon manuals imposed on soldiers not to shoot gusts incurred more than 250 shots to avoid dangerous overheating of the weapon. The high range of shooting was obtained to maximize the possibility of hitting enemies if the target exposure time was very low. The problem of this feature was that the weapon had a dizzying ammunition, making refills frequent and increasing the risk of overheating. The first version of the MG42 was produced from 1942 to mid-1943. The main differences compared to the next version were the loading lever, which was made or in metal or bakelite, and the flame flame that had a slightly different design.
