Aoshima 20499 1/350 British Clipper Cargo Ship Cutty Sark
SAILING SHIP No.2
The 1/350 Sailing Ship Series models some of the world's most famous sailing ships at an affordable price and in a collectible size.
The Cutty Sark is a tea clipper launched in 1869 at Dumbarton, Scotland. It was a typical high-speed vessel, with a length six times its beam and a gross tonnage of 963 tons. Renowned for its speed, it could reach over 17 knots. Due to a shortage of timber at the time, the ship was built with an iron frame and teak planking, making it a composite construction of wood and iron. Today, the Cutty Sark remains preserved in Greenwich as the world's only surviving clipper ship.
