About the Yamaha FZR750R (OW01)
Unveiled at the 1988 Paris Motor Show, the Yamaha FZR750R (OW01) represented the pinnacle of Yamaha's racing technology in a street-legal form. Derived from the YZF750 endurance racer, which dominated the 1987 and 1988 Suzuka 8 Hours, the OW01 was engineered for performance and precision. Its 5-valve DOHC inline-4 engine featured titanium connecting rods, enlarged intake and exhaust ports, and Yamaha's innovative EXUP (Exhaust Ultimate Power) system for maximum output across the rev range. A lateral Deltabox aluminum frame and swing-arm rear suspension delivered exceptional rigidity and lightness, staying true to its racing roots. Only 1,000 units were ever produced, making the FZR750R (OW01) a rare and celebrated icon in Yamaha's racing heritage.
