Developed in the late 16th century, black armour represented knights of great strength and distinction. This specially designed suit weighed approximately 100 pounds. Most other suits of armour only weighed between 70 and 85 pounds. Despite its heft, the suit was highly manoeuvrable, allowing knights to be ready for battle at a moment's notice. Kit features a detailed head and helmet with opening face guard, decorated armour pieces, a lance, a battle club and a display base with historical information.
