The fire-fighting vehicle (= LF) 16 is mounted on the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz 1017, which was powered by a 172 hp six-cylinder diesel engine with exhaust gas turbocharger. The LF 16 was primarily used for fire fighting, but was also loaded for technical assistance.
