The vehicle replaced the FT-17's machine gun or 37mm cannon with a box-shaped radio compartment equipped with radio equipment. It was primarily intended for short-range wireless communication and served as a mobile communication hub at the company or battalion command level, facilitating coordination between infantry, artillery, and tank units.
