The SdAh 116 was specifically designed as an efficient system for the recovery and transport of tanks from the battlefield to repair shops.
For an easy and fast tank loading operation, the rear part (which was self-propelled), detached and allowed a quick loading of the tank onto the platform. Once the tank had been loaded, the rear part reattached and raised the loading platform.
The kit can be assembled in any configuration: either in loading or transport mode.
