Upgrade Set for 1/35 WWII British Sherman VC Firefly for Tasca #35009/Dragon

As most Shermanholics will know, Tasca produce some of the best injection moulded versions of this Allied AFV on the current market. The Firefly is no exception but as with just about all kits out there, you can always improve things a little. This is where Voyager come in. It may not be a huge set, but this is definitely about quality rather than quantity. The usual subjects are covered, such as periscope and light guards while you also get tool tie downs, tow rope clamp, houseboat brackets and the British style smoke emitters. Probably my favourite part is the leaf spring type tow hook for the rear. Each leaf spring is supplied separately and the entire unit is constructed just like the real thing. Just perfect. You also get the option of replacing the kit track skids too. The Tasca ones are done nicely, but are missing a bolt - easily rectified by using the Voyager parts. You get a couple of stowage boxes too - the main one replacing the kit's IM effort. The clasps on this are wonderfully reproduced though you need a lot of patience and either superman type vision or a magnifying lens, but the work is definitely worthwhile. Overall, I can't fault this kit. I did find that the headlight guards were over complicated but using 3 separate parts so opted to use the Tasca PE parts instead, but that certainly doesn't detract from this set in anyway. If you're in the market to build a Firefly, then this is the update set to get. Just add a metal barrel and you're on the way to building a masterpiece.....
