Rail Center Dark Acrylic Wash is a high-contrast shading wash for deep recesses, rivets, panel lines, and structural detail. Recommended for emphasizing depth on locomotives, wagons, and architectural elements, among many other applications.

Washes are one of the oldest and most essential techniques in railway modeling. It consists of emphasizing the recessed details typically by using a diluted dark colour. The grooves, angles, panel lines, and edges of raised elements present excellent opportunities to add the dirt and shadows with effects such as rust, grime, and dust which also tend to accumulate in these areas.
RAIL CENTER new acrylic washes have been designed to be applied directly to the model, eliminating the need to experiment with the correct dilution rate.
The monotone aspect of a model is unrealistic and boring; washes add contrast and volume to your model. With this very simple application method and the correct colour, you can highlight details, grooves, panel lines, and details to provide depth and a much higher level of realism to your models.
Thanks to the range of colours available, you won't need to make complex mixtures, adjust for the proper thinning ratio, or adjust the tone to the intended shade. Each colour can be mixed with one another or tinted with other AMMO acrylics. The acrylic washes can be diluted and cleaned with water, Acrylic Thinner A.MIG-2000 or Cleaner A.MIG-2001.
The advantage of the acrylic wash is that it has no odor so using them at home or near your family is not a problem, and it dries faster than the enamel wash which allows you to finish the process in a shorter amount of valuable time. The acrylic wash comes in a bottle with a dosing cap that allows you to place a few drops on a palette or container for later use. The 15 ml capacity and unique dispenser bottle allows you to save product and work with precision.
The RAIL CENTER acrylic washes are very easy to apply. Use a fine-tipped round brush, or preferably a liner brush of appropriate size for the model. Shake the bottle and lightly dip the brush into the wash. Then spread the wash along the grooves, panel lines, and around the raised details. Let the wash dry to the touch which typically takes about 5 to 10 minutes. You can then wipe off the excess with a touchup sponge, a clean cloth, or a brush lightly dipped in water. Make sure the surface is satin or glossy, not matte, so that the wash will spread and flow properly and will be easy to remove any excess.
