The Savannah RX-7 (SA22C) debuted in March 1978. Its retractable headlights garnered popularity with its stunning style, along with the packaging that utilized the small and lightweight characteristics of the rotary engine to create a sports car with a low center of gravity and enhanced maneuverability. It was also recognized in America as a base car for motorsports and participated in the IMSA series from 1979. In its debut race, the 24 Hours of Daytona, it achieved an impressive victory in the GTU class and an overall 5th place finish, attracting the attention of American motorsports fans.
The kit reproduces the winning car driven by the three rotary musketeers: Yoshimi Katayama, Takashi Yorino, and Yojiro Terada's No. 7 car.
