An innovation on the massive cargo-carrying C-130, the MC-130 is equipped with a large terrain-following radar in the nose section to provide pilots with an accurate picture of their surroundings for flying low-level night missions. This enables them to evade radar, insert and extract teams, and be gone before the enemy knows they were there.
