    Product Description
This is a plastic model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.

The Heinkel He 162 A-2 Salamander was one of the most unusual aircraft of World War II. Towards the end of 1944, within a very short time, a fighter-interceptor had been built that was both fast and easy to make. The specification for this single-seat fighter was not issued by the German air ministry until September 1944. In just 69 days Heinkel, at Wien-Schwechat, had designed the new fighter, built the prototype and made a successful maiden flight. Although aluminium parts were still used for the fuselage, the wings were constructed in one piece out of wood. Due to the air superiority of the Allies the whole of the production was ultimately carried out underground. Between February and April 1945 a total of 116 aircraft were built, most of which were delivered to 1 "Oesau" Fighter Squadron at Leck, Schleswig Holstein. The notorious fuel shortages at the end of the war prevented the extensive use of the He 162.
