    Product Description
This is a resin model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.

In April 1930 the prototype of a new fighter, designed by N.N.Polikarpov and designated the VT-11, was flown for the first time. The aeroplane entered operational service as the I-5, with the production reaching 800 machines. Its success meant general pardon for its Chief designer, who had been by then interned. In February 1933 Polikarpov began designing another fighter, the TsKB-3. The new aircraft was to be once again a single-seat biplane of a composite wood/metal construction, with staggered single-bay wings. In contrast to its predecessor the TsKB-3 featured a gull-shaped upperwing centre section and I-section interplate struts. Cantilever main undercarriage legs were fitted with spatted wheels which could be changed for skis. Power was provided by an American 715-hp Wright SGR-1820F Cyclone air-cooled radial engine. The prototype flew in November 1933, with legendary pilot V.P.Chkalov at the controls. The TsKB-3 performed well and especially its manoeuvrability, controls, speed and rate of climb were highly appreciated. The aeroplane was put into mass production in 1934 under the designation I-15. The first 59 aircrafts were fitted with the original American Cyclone engines while the following 400 macines were powered by less powerful M-22 engines of domestic origin (licence-built Bristol Jupiters). Another 270 machines were equipped with Shvetsov M-25 powerplans which were, in fact, the Cyclone engines built in the USSR under licence. The standard armament consisted of four synchronised 7.62mm PV-1 machine guns mounted in front of the cockpit. Provision was made to carry either two 50kg bombs on the racks or six unguided RS-82 rockets projectiles on the rails below the lower wings. The I-15s received their baptism of fire in November 1936, when 25 aeroplanes and their skilled Soviet pilots were sent to Spain as part of so called .international aid" to Republican forces. During the Spanich Civil War .Chatos" fought against He 51s, FIAT C.R.42s and also Bf 109Bs. In total 156 I-15 were delivered by the Soviet Union, while the another 273 were licence-built by the local CASA factory. These I-15s differed from Russian counterparts in minor details.
